SAN PEDRO DE VERONA

2006

Measures: 20 cm. + 15 cm. + 14 cm.

Born in Verona in 1206. He broke away from the Cathar movement since he was a child. His talent to preach as well as his zeal for faith made Gregory IX to appoint him as general inquisitor and he was aimed to fight against the mistakes of the Manichaean. He almost evangelized the whole of Italy.

Rome named him inquisitor. He was murdered on his way back from Como to Milan. A group of Manichaean plotted his death. The murderer hit him with an axe, so strongly that the saint fell to the floor half dead. He managed to get on his knees and recited the first verse of the Symbol of the Apostles, he offered his blood as a sacrifice to God by soaking his fingers in it and writing on the floor the words_ “Credo in Deum”.
