Dionisio patron saint of France and first bishop of Paris, was probably born in Italy, where he was ordained as a priest and bishop. The Pope sent him to preach to the Gauls. Sometime later established a Christian center in the island in the Seine. Because of this he was persecuted and beheaded in the year 258 Legend has it that after execution, Dionysius turned and walked some distance carrying his head in his hands.
